The June 21, 2023 Charter Commission’s first public hearing has been held.
By statute, it needs to hold one more public hearing before submitting final report to Secretary of State.
Tentatively, that will happen before the October 15, 2023 deadline.
No official vote was taken on June 21 but at this point in time, it appears that at least 6 of 9 members are in favor of the change to the official ballot form of government for the town budget and believe the voters should have the final say in March 2024.
Two subcommittees have been formed with the intention of drafting a report to present to the voters sometime in August. All meetings are televised on BC-TV on demand.
