Good morning all.

The ball is rolling! We’re already receiving signed petitions via the mail! Keep it up, we’re targeting 1500 signatures from registered voters, so every single name on our petition counts.

You can download the petition, sign it (and get your friends to sign it) and mail it to:

Election of Charter Commissioners

We’ve had a few questions on the nine Charter Commissioners, how that works and how much work is involved. Here is the scoop;

If, and only if, we get a minimum of 1100 signatures certified by the Supervisors of the Checklist, we then need to recruit nine charter commissioner candidates to stand for general election.

Commissioner candidates would need to sign-up with the town clerk, during the sign-up period for elected officials, prior to the March 2023 election.

Nine commissioners will be elected.

It will be their task to change the wording in the charter, and then place the changed charter before the Bedford voters.

Commissioners cannot implement the change in the charter to put the budget on the ballot by their own authority, only the voters of Bedford can do that. The charter commissioners do the work to get the changes defined and on the ballot for final approval.

If you’re interested in running for one of these spots, and have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Enjoy the weekend!
